Carton making
The cartons that are being used for packing our publications are being purchased at 7-10 rupees per carton. Even though that may not be costly there are some drawbacks. Good quality cartons are not always readily available and frequently we find them damaged.
So making cartons is a good proposition since we require them in good numbers. And when we make them we can make them to the size that suits our requirement. This may be extended to a business which caters to the requirements of out-side market also. Initially we wanted to do this work with hand made paper but later we changed the plan.
We take news-paper. We made thin gum with maida flour. by applying the gum on paper and sticking papers one above the other and rolling them everytime a paper is added we made something of a card board which is ten layers thick.

This is allowed to dry. All the dried boards are stacked on one another and are pressed by placing a stone on them.

After they are properly strightened, they are cut and made into cartons of required size.

You can see we have made a carton that fix six copies of Pushpanjali exactly. It makes packing very easy and the packing very stable and strong.

A packed carton ready for dispatch. We shall present more in the future.
